In addition to the customization made to the Quote Entry screen, as mentioned on the previous customization post, the user required a dashboard that gives visibility on all of the Quotes and several key pieces of information including the new custom field ‘Quote Type’.

Standard Epicor Software already comes with many dashboards that show all the standard information as part of all of the modules included in the software. If we, however, wanted to display custom fields added to User Interfaces, we either need to customize existing reports/dashboards or create a new query (using the Business Activity Query tool) and/or dashboard.

A custom software solution developed by Cre8tive Technology & Design  includes a new query/dashboard with the following requirements

  • The dashboard must be filterable by
    • Sales Person
    • Customer Name
  • The dashboard must include the custom ‘Quote Type’ field
  • Additionally, the dashboard must include the following standard Quote fields
    • Sales Person
    • Customer ID
    • Customer Name
    • Quote #
    • Due Date
    • Expected Close Date
    • Gross Value

A query was created which looks into the QuoteHed table and pulls in the necessary fields. Additionally, a simple dashboard UI has been created which displays the results of such query.

As part of the Opportunity / Quote Entry customization, a dashboard was created to give the user proper visibility on the custom field added to the Quote Header table. It is common that standard reports or dashboards get customized to add User Defined fields, or if the needs are very specific, a new BAQ/dashboard can be created to display all the necessary information.
